You might’ve seen this video floating around the Internet as of late. It shows Andrew Johnson of Auckland, New Zealand demonstrating the effects of Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) on his Early Onset Parkinson’s Disease. It almost seems magical, but it’s actually just really awesome neuroscience.
I wanted to know more so with the help of another MB writer, I reached out to Barbara Kelly Changizi, MD, Assistant Professor of Neurology and Co-director of the Center for Neuromodulation at Mount Sinai Medical Center. We chatted for 45 minutes about DBS and I turned it into a post over at Motherboard.
If you are looking for a little brain stimulation of your own this morning, head on over and check it out.
